Hello, I’m Miko Kazegawa.
Japanese-American artist & illustrator blending tradition with modern expression.
I was born in San Francisco and raised between city streets and Kyoto’s quiet grace. That duality—vibrant yet minimal—shapes how I see the world.
Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to still moments and subtle details. That sensitivity still guides my work today.
I graduated from CalArts, where I honed my illustration skills and explored visual storytelling through mixed media. It’s where I found my voice—and learned that art isn’t just seen, it’s felt.
I create art that explores identity, nature, and quiet introspection.
Blending ink, watercolor, and digital techniques, I draw from Japanese folklore and organic textures. Each piece is a personal story—open for others to find their own meaning.
To me, art is a quiet space in a noisy world—a way to create stillness that lingers.
I work intuitively, often starting with a fleeting moment: wind in the trees, shifting light, a memory.
These small details grow into deeper stories about change, connection, and what stays with us.
